When we finish our presentation in public, it is not enough to say thank you and open the time for questions. It is extremely important to always make a summary before finishing. The summary allows us to go back over the most important points of the presentation in public, to get someone who has been "distracted" during it to focus again, and, above all, it can be an opportunity to make a round presentation. Closing is almost as important as opening. My mnemonic for closing a public presentation is "refrigerator.

Photography created by Adriano Agulló used under a CC BY 2.0 license To eat, we need to open the fridge. But if we do not close it well, the content will not be preserved, and the refrigerator will stop fulfilling its function. You have to know how to open a presentation in public, but Industry wise email list also to close it. And the best way to close is to make a good summary of the most important thing that we have exposed. I don't believe too much in very impressive presentations (they tend to erase the above) but I do believe that the closing must be a very intimate moment with the public, which at that point will no longer have barriers.

Lower your voice, be more you than ever and summarize in one sentence what they have to take home and the action they need to take. So the fridge will be closed and your speech will be preserved. If you want more information on how to speak in public, go to the Mynima blog.
